CyRide passengers can now use the Token Transit app to pay for bus fares with your cell phone or other mobile device when boarding the bus.  All of your purchases are stored in the cloud, and retrievable on any mobile device. Individuals purchasing tickets or passes for others (i.e. parents or gifting a pass) can complete a one-time transfer to another individual's cell phone for their use by going to: https://tokentransit.com/send/amesia.

The available fares under Token Transit include:

• 1 Ticket – one-time ride
• 10-Ride Ticket Booklet - up to 10 rides
• Unlimited Ride Passes 
  • Monthly pass (good for 31 days from when it is activated, not purchased)
  • School-year pass
  • Winter pass
  • Fall pass
  • Summer pass

Reduced Fare (Half-Fare or Iowa State University Subsidized) Eligibility under Token Transit
CyRide must specifically identify the phone number of an eligible individual for these reduced fare passes within the Token Transit app before that individual can purchase at half-fare or Iowa State University subsidized prices. 

• Individuals eligible for half-fare includes: K-12 students, persons with a disability, Medicaid/Medicare cardholders and persons over 65 years of age.
• Individuals eligible for subsidized passes includes: ISU Staff, Faculty Members and Postdocs. (staff/faculty ID card or pay stub documentation required).

If eligible for either half-fare or ISU subsidized fares, please call 515-292-1100 or email cyride@cyride.com to submit required documentation to be registered for half-fare or ISU subsidized purchases on Token Transit.

How to Use Token Transit
The Token Transit app is for the general public that rides CyRide that typically pay via cash, tickets or passes, including reduced fare options.  If you are an Iowa State student, please continue utilizing your student ID card to ride free. Additionally, Dial-A-Ride passengers should continue to use cash or tickets at this time.

If you typically ride with cash, tickets or passes and go to a pass sales outlet for your fare, try out Token Transit today!  Pay and ride CyRide with just your cell phone by following the steps below:

1. Download the Token Transit App at https://www.tokentransit.com/app
   
   
2. Reduced-fare Activation - If you are eligible for half fare rides on CyRide, contact us at 515-292-1100 or cyride@cyride.com to submit documentation to allow half-fare prices to display in your Token Transit app when purchasing mobile fares. Eligible reduced fare riders include:
   1. K-12 students
   2. Persons with a disability
   3. Medicaid/Medicare cardholders
   4. Persons over 65 years of age.
      
      
3. Purchase – Select your preferred fare type in the Token Transit app. (Allows you to pay with Google Pay, Apple Pay or via credit card.)
   
   
4. Activate – When you are ready to board the bus, tap your ticket to activate on your mobile cell phone and show it to your driver. Your phone will hold all of your available fare media. Once activated, the ride will expire in 30 minutes. Make sure to ask the driver for a paper transfer, if transferring buses!
