CyRide is holding a public hearing at CyRide, 601 N. University Blvd., Ames, Iowa 50010, at 11:00 a.m. CDT on Thursday, June 11, 2026. The purpose of this hearing is to discuss grant applications from CyRide to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) under the Section 5307 and Service Transportation Block Grant Programs authorized through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
CyRide will request Federal Transit Assistance (FTA) of 5307 federal funding in the amount of $4,468,885 to be matched with an equal local share for support of their FFY2027 general transit operations. Additionally, CyRide will request $471,313 total ($377,050 federal) in Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) flexible funding for the partial purchase of a battery electric bus.
These projects are in conformance with the Transportation Improvement Program prepared by the Ames Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. Individuals can view the FFY2027 Program of Projects (POP) with project description details at https://www.cyride.com/POP. Comments on these applications are invited from interested individuals and/or parties and should be submitted to CyRide no later than 11:30 a.m. CDT on June 11, 2026.
Any interested person or organization is invited to attend this hearing and provide comments regarding these applications for funding. Any verbal or written comments made by the above date/time will be considered in preparing the final Program of Projects, and if deemed appropriate, CyRide may modify the projects. If no comments are received, this Program of Projects will be considered final. The final Program of Projects, including copies of comments received, will be made available for inspection by the public online at www.cyride.com/POP
