OPERATIONS:

It’s time to start thinking about summer and fall schedules again. I will be putting together timetables and drivers’ shifts this month and run picks will be on the following dates:

§ FT Summer – April 4 to 10
§
FT Fall – April 11 to 17
§
PT Summer – April 15 to 21
§
PT Fall – April 23 to May 2

The PT seniority will be based on hours worked as of March 31 for the summer run pick and as of April 15 for the fall run pick. There will be more information next month about the run picks for the newer drivers who have never gone through one before. (Tom D)

End of Shift Procedures: When you return to base to park your bus at the end of your shift be sure to put the bus in neutal and set the parking brake. Please close all windows and roof vents, move the driver’s seat back and put the steering wheel up. Also, walk through your bus and pick-up any transfer slips, rubbish or lost items. Doing the above will make the laneworker’s life easier when they clean and refuel your bus. (Barb)

Spring Break Time Off: If you have requested time off over Spring Break. Be sure to check with the Dispatchers to see if your request is being covered before you leave town. We have sign up sheets posted for drivers to sign who want extra work but are not always abe to cover every request. (Karen)

HIRING AND TRAINING:

Traffic Signals: Just a reminder that all our drivers must make every SAFE effort to stop the bus when a traffic light begins to change. There have been a few buses that entered an intersection when the light was yellow and then the light changed to red before the bus reached the middle of the intersection. One tip to help you when looking ahead at traffic lights is the "don’t walk" light. When this light is flashing or is solidly on, you can bet that the light changing from green to yellow is imminent. You should already be prepared to stop when that light begins to change. And, as always, drivers should cover the brake when approaching intersections. (Brent)
