We apologize for any inconvenience in CyRide's rerouting on the below detours. If you have questions or concerns regarding these detours, please call CyRide at 292-1100.
#1 Red Detour (Downtown): Beginning Friday morning (9/3/10) until Saturday at 5:00 p.m., the #1 Red route will detour on 6th Street between Duff and Clark both directions due to the All American Weekend being held downtown Ames. A map is attached but specifically the route will detour as follows:

Red East: Ames City Hall, north on Clark to 6th, east on 6th to Duff, north on Duff & back on route

Red West: South on Duff to 6th, west on 6th to Clark, south on Clark to 5th, west on 5th to Ames City Hall & back on route
#3 Blue Detour: During ISU home football games at Jack Trice Stadium, the Blue route will not run between S. Grand and Beach Avenue from approximately 6 hours before the home football game time until approximately 2 hours after the game. Blue South will travel Lincolnway to Grand to S. 4th AND Blue North will use S. 4th to Grand to Lincolnway during this time. All stops on Beach (south of Lincolnway) and stops on S. 4th (between Beach and Grand) will be closed during this timeframe. For a map of this detour, please click here.

Orange/#4 Gray Detour UPDATE- ISU Football Game (Commuters and Football

Orange/Gray Route will be traveling between ISU campus,
Jack Trice Stadium and K-Mart (S. Duff/S. 16th)
on Thursday, September 2nd due to the Iowa State Center lots
being unavailable to commuters during Thursday’s football game day. All
commuters are to park at the K-Mart/Staples parking lot and the
Orange/Gray buses will shuttle passengers into campus. Please park in
the parking spaces on the east side of the lot so that customers of
K-Mart and Staples can use the spaces near the stores. Besides K-Mart,
there are additional campus lots that are available. Click

Individuals going to the football game may also park at K-Mart and utilize CyRide’s free Orange/Gray Route service as it is open to the general public. Two temporary bus stops are located at the corner of S. 16th/University for passengers to board/alight near Jack Trice Football Field until 10:19 p.m. Click on the map to see the Orange/Gray route detour for Thursday.
Furthermore due to the unprecedented rainfall and the anticipated number of football attendees parking at K-Mart due to closed public lots around the stadium, CyRide will operate Orange/Gray route buses after the football game back to K-Mart. CyRide’s distinctive cybrid buses will be staged on the EAST SIDE OF THE STADIUM and will depart for K-Mart once a bus is filled with passengers. Give CyRide a call at 292-1100 if you have questions!
#23 Orange Detour (VET MED): After 1pm, Orange Route buses typically servicing the Veterinary Medicine College will drop passengers at the corner of S. 16th/University due to increased traffic as well as road construction along Christiansen. All published buses going to Vet Med on the Orange schedule will instead travel to K-Mart after 1pm. Please note the attached map for available bus stops along the route.
#6 Brown North Vet Med Bus Stop Closed After 3pm 9/2/10 - Due to the large traffic volume going to the ISU football game on Thursday, September 2nd, the Veterinary Medicine bus stop as the Brown route travels northbound on University Blvd. (east side University stop) will be closed for safety concerns in order for Brown North buses to make their left-hand turn onto Mortensen. Passengers will be dropped at the next available stop on the Brown North route on Mortensen.
#2 Green Route Detour - Northwestern Ave. Closure - Through Friday, August 27th buses will be rerouted due to road reconstruction on Northwestern. Bus stops on Northwestern between 6th and Allan for Green will remain closed stops until construction is completed in mid-September. Closed bus stops are Northwestern/6th Street stops on Northwestern Ave. Green will detour as follows:
Green West - At City Hall transfer location - west on 5th to Grand, north on Grand to 6th, west on 6th to normal route.
Green East - east on 6th to Grand, south on Grand to Allan, east on Allan to Main, east on Main to Pearle, north on Pearle to 5th, east on 5th (stopping at City Hall transfer location) to regular route.
#2 Green Detour (westbound only): Effective immediately, CyRide will detour the Green buses around the Ontario/Hyland intersection due to construction at that intersection westbound only. This construction is expected to last all summer. A detour map of the #2 Green route can be viewed here with closed stops near the Ontario/Hyland intersection noted with an X. Temporary stops have been placed at the corner of Ross/Hyland - on Ross Road. Please note that eastbound buses will follow Green's normal route from Ontario to Hyland. The westbound buses will route as follows:
Green West Detour: North on Hyland to Ross, west on Ross to Iowa, north on Iowa to Ontario, west on Ontario and back on route.
Green East is operating normal route.
